Here's how to create a gorgeous butterfly...

1) Put the iron onto heat. An Encaustic iron on maximum, a travel or dry domestic iron onto medium or cotton setting.

Note : These temperatures are a guide only and the iron should be tested first on a small bunch of fibre.

2) Gather a selection of Fantasy Fibre colours together, to suit the colour scheme of your project, making sure you have enough to generously cover the butterfly rubber stamp (JN04F). Ink the stamp well with Black Stazon. With the stamp face-up, gather the bundle of fibre together and lay gently onto the surface of the stamp. Take care not to press the fibre down onto the stamp as this will create a fudged image.

3) Cover the fibre with parchment (again do not press down) and lay the heated iron over the top applying moderate pressure moving it to cover all areas of the stamp. Within 5 seconds the ink begins to become visible through the parchment.
When the whole image is visible, the strands of fibre will have fused together and the ink lifted from the stamp onto the fibre.

4) Peel the fused fibre and parchment away together. There will be a perfect image on the fibre, with a gorgeously tactile texture!

Note : This process should take no longer than 60 seconds as overheating will cause the fibre to tarnish.

Add more sparkle!

Their are many ways to add more sparkle to your Fantasy Film and Fibre creations... a few of our suggestions are listed below:

Glitter...

For projects like this sometimes it's best to use a Pee Wee set of glitters, where all of the colour co-ordinating has been done for you. Their are 30 sets to choose from!

Using Art Institute dries clear glue and a fine metal tip, apply glue to chosen areas of your design.

Select your first colour and sprinkle over the relevant area, ensuring a good coating. Tap any excess off into a tidy tray, so that unwanted glitter can be easily returned to the phial.

Repeat this process with as many colours as you like, until you have achieved the desired look.

Layering...

This technique works especially well with butterfly and dragonfly designs, as you can almost create the illusion of moving wings.

You could layer several identical Fantasy Film designs on top of one another, by gluing at a central point on the body. Or why not try layering a Fantasy Film design on top of a Fantasy Fibre design... the choice is yours!

Slightly crease the wings of the top layer as close to the 'body' of the design as possible to create a stunning 3D effect.

Acetate...

Another fun idea is to trap a bundle of Fantasy Fibre between two layers of acetate to create a stunning card aperture!

This gorgeous rose has been created by taking small sections of Fantasy Film and burning the edges with the flame of a candle or lighter to form petal shapes.

While the film is still warm it can be moulded into any shape, perfect for creating this stunningly realistic rose!

Of course you don't have to apply heat to Fantasy Film and Fibre to be able to use them in your paper craft projects.

Why not trim down a sheet of film to the desired width and use as ribbon to embellish cards, scrapbook pages and gifts...

Fantasy Fibre could be used inside gift boxes to add that extra special touch when giving a precious present to a friend or loved one.

If you like jewellery making, then apply heat to a layered section of film and mould into the desired shape. You could turn this into a beautiful shimmering brooch by adding a pin mechanism to the back.
